South Florida PBS Original Productions Achieve #1 Spot on Prime Time

South Florida PBS (WPBT & WXEL) has achieved a significant TV ratings milestone, powered by its original, locally produced, programs.

For Prime Time, February 8, 2018, WXEL West Palm, was the # 1 Live Overnight market in the nation among Public Television main channels, according to Nielsen Research Gross Rating Points*. The evening led off with the premiere of the South Florida PBS original production, Battleground Everglades, the first in a six part-series that explores solutions to the threats to this great natural resource. This was followed by South Florida PBS’ Emmy award-winning series, Changing Seas. Now in its 9th season, this documentary series lets viewers experience first-hand how oceanographers and other experts study earth’s last frontier and sheds light on how human activities are impacting ocean resources.

Battleground Everglades, premiered at 8 PM on WXEL with a 1.2 rating, followed by Changing Seas, with a 1.26 rating. Prohibition, a national PBS program built on that success and garnered a 1.66 rating.
