South Florida PBS (WPBT & WXEL) celebrates a decade of Emmy winning arts coverage from the Florida Keys to the Palm Beaches with a new season of Art Loft premiering on Tuesday, January 11th at 7:30pm on WPBT and on Thursday, January 13th at 5:30pm on WXEL. The nine-episode season kicks off with a look at Art Loft through the years. Then we’ll dive into new works of public art, new ways artists are engaging the public, and a look at how some local artists kept going through Covid. We’ll also get a peek at what’s happening in the arts across the nation. For a sneak preview of season 10 click here

“For ten years, Art Loft has immersed South Floridians in the local arts and offered opportunities for enrichment and inspiration. South Florida PBS is very proud of Art Loft’s ten-year trajectory, and we hope to continue to celebrate the creativity and diversity of our community as reflected in the arts for many more years to come,” stated Dolores Sukhdeo, CEO of South Florida PBS.

We’ll be joined again by an array of partner arts organizations, sharing segments produced by the NSU Art Museum, Oolite Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, Miami-Dade College Live Arts, film incubator FilmGate, and Commissioner, the Knight Foundation funded program educating the next generation of collectors. Each partner brings with them exciting and visceral stories of local artists making their mark. And we’ll wrap the season with a special Women in the Arts town Hall, looking at female and non-binary artists creating a practice in a male dominated industry. A data analysis of 18 major U.S. art museums found their collections are 87% male and 85% white. (Topaz et al., “Diversity of Artists in Major U.S. Museums.” 2018)
