Miami, FL - South Florida PBS (WPBT, WXEL, and Health Channel) is thrilled to announce that applications for film-maker Flip the ScriptSeason 2 are now open to both Broward and Palm Beach County students, expanding upon the success of last year’s program based in Broward.Qualifying aspiring student filmmakers are encouraged to apply by the first of February to enter their short-film concept into the running for this season.
Six students from Broward County and five students from Palm Beach County will be selected to participate in this free 18-month mentorship and production program aimed at transforming their short film ideas into impactful works featured on public television and the big screen.
We are looking for stories that will spark dialogue or stories that will help residents address challenges in their communities. Entries will be selected by a jury of television professionals and filmmakers who have created significant works focused on issues facing the South Florida community.
Requirements:
- Students must be a junior or sophomore at a Palm Beach or Broward County School
- Students must commit to an 18-month film mentorship and production program
- Stories must be original and should focus on addressing an area of concern for the community.
- Applications must be submitted by February 1st, 2025.
Program Highlights for Selected Filmmakers:
- Work closely with experienced filmmakers and television professionals
- Gain insights into impactful storytelling and short film production
- Network with industry experts and storytellers from across South Florida
- Premiere their films on South Florida PBS, reaching an audience of 6.3 million from the Keys to the Treasure Coast
- Premiere of their films at local film festivals
- Participation in a red-carpet screening event for the films upon their premiere
