MIAMI, FL – July 19, 2019 – South Florida PBS announces the appointment of two new members to the South Florida PBS Board of Directors: Margaret Eidson, MD and Handel R. Robinson, MD, FACS.
As respected medical experts and active community volunteer leaders, Eidson and Robinson join South Florida PBS to further public education through varied media and innovative communication. The two newest board members directly align with South Florida PBS’ mission to unite community voices to broaden horizons and inspire peers and younger generations.
Eidson is a retired pediatric endocrinologist from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where she earned a medical degree. She has been an integral part of South Florida’s medical community since the beginning of her medical career. Eidson’s passion lies in helping children. For more than 20 years, she was the Regional Director of the State of Florida Children’s Medical Services’ Pediatric Endocrine/Diabetes Program. She currently serves on the board of The Miami City Ballet since Eidson, with her husband Mike, is also devoted to the arts and enriching our local community.
Robinson earned his undergraduate degree from the University at Albany (SUNY) and his medical degree from Emory University. He is currently a faculty member at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine with an academic appointment of Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery. He enjoys his patient practice at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale where his also the director of the University of Miami at Holy Cross General Surgery Residency Program. Dr. Robinson enjoys mentoring young professionals and hopeful students. He believes in giving back and fulfills these goals through various international medical missions with organizations such as Bridge of Life and Orphans World Wide, where he serves on the Board of Directors. He is also a respected medical lecturer and author who enjoys martial arts in his spare time.
