The new year brings a remarkable lineup of premieres that are sure to delight and educate viewers. Highlights from January premieres on South Florida PBS include –
· Great Migrations: A People on the Move – Join Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. as he examines the transformative impact of Black migration on American culture and society. Explore the profound impact of African American migration on American culture and society, examining the waves of Black Americans moving from the South to the North, back to the South, and the increasing influx of African and Caribbean immigrants, highlighting how movement has been a defining feature of the Black experience throughout history. (Airs Tuesday, January 28 at 9 PM on WPBT and Thursday, January 30 at 8 PM on WXEL.)
- Independent Lens: Without Arrows – Discover the inspiring story of Delwin Fiddler, Jr. After 13 years of living in Philadelphia, Fiddler, a champion grass dancer, embraces indigenous culture by returning to his ancestral home on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota. (Airs Monday, January 13 at 10 PM on WPBT and Wednesday, January 15 at 4 AM on WXEL.)
- Finding Your Roots: La Famiglia – Discover the ancestral stories of Joy Behar and Michael Imperioli as Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. traces their roots to Calabria, Italy. (Airs Tuesday, January 14 at 8 PM on WPBT and Monday, January 20 at 8 PM on WXEL.)
